The Toucan is a classic here at Kindred Art. Probably because there are so many options you can use. A beautiful colored beak, stark black body with stunning blue feet. It makes it all interesting.
Then you have the option of the way you will color in the background. What kind of leaves will you draw?Do you want tropical flowers?
The Toucan is at home in South America’s tropical forests but recognized everywhere. The toucan’s oversized, colorful bill has made it one of the world’s most popular birds.
Although they spend a lot of time in trees, they are not very good at flying. Toucans mainly travel among trees by hopping. When they do take flight, they flap their wings vigorously and glide, traveling only short distances.
Toucans nest in the hollows of trees. They often move into cavities created and abandoned by woodpeckers.
When sleeping a Toucan will tuck its beak under its wings to keep it warm.
All these Drawings were done by the 3rd-8th grade Gifted in Art students at Monforton School!
They are stunning!
