The red-eyed tree frog has red eyes with narrowed pupils. It has a vibrant green body with yellow and blue vertically striped sides. Its webbed feet and toes are orange or red. The skin on the red-eyed tree frog’s stomach is soft and fragile skin, whereas the back is thicker and rougher.
The Red eyed tree frog is an amazing Jumper and spends most of its time in trees. It is not poisonous. It uses its green body as camouflage. . During the day, they remain motionless, cover their blue sides with their back legs, tuck their bright feet under their stomachs, and shut their red eyes. This way they can stay hidden and camouflaged among the leaves and trees of the forest.
We discussed the difference between red eyed tree frogs and Poison Dart frogs. You will notice that some of the children decided to draw dart frogs. They are brightly colored and have a variety of colors.
Once again this is where personal creativity came to play. Each frog is unique and tells a different story.
Here is the video posted to my facebook page. This is a great clip. I had no idea that Tree frogs were so small. Really they are only about 3 in. long. So cute!
The children were given choice on tree branches and composition of the artwork. Some chose to have their frogs swimming in the water and some had their frogs in the forest.
